Suggested Student Objectives

  • Define Capitalism, Communism, Socialism
  • Compare and contrast the three types of economic systems.
  • Students will evaluate two positives of socialism and two negatives.
  • Evaluate the effect of social reforms on society and on Marx’s predictions of revolution.


Students will complete the reading on Capitalism/Socialism/Communism (attached worksheet- see suggested additional readings section) Students will answer the questions and complete the activities on the worksheet. As a class we will read the section on the Communist Manifesto. We will work together to define terms within the reading.
